Bupa Global and UK has launched a health support package for 15,000 frontline workers in the UK as part of its wider plan to increase health benefits for all employees globally.

The package, entitled MyHealthcare, provides staff working in company care homes and dental practices with access to GPs, physiotherapy and mental health support, with more benefits to be introduced throughout the year.

MyHealthcare is available free of charge to permanent employees from their first day and will not affect their take-home pay since Bupa pays the tax benefit on their behalf. It was designed following feedback from its frontline teams on the services they considered the most valuable.

Tom Hoosen-Webber, chief people and procurement officer at Bupa Global and UK, said: “People are at the heart of our business and we want to keep them healthy and happy in their roles. We are proud to deliver the highest quality medical care to our patients, residents and customers, and we want our hardworking teams to have access to this same high-quality care.”

The full support package introduced so far includes access to remote GP appointments, including at evenings and weekends, physiotherapy support, mental health assistance and access to Bupa’s 24/7 nurse helpline.

Hoosen-Webber added: “Colleagues now have health benefits that meet their needs without the financial burden and have access to medical support in a flexible way. We are proud to be an employer of choice and want people to come and grow their careers with Bupa. So, we continue to listen to our people and want them to know they are valued and cared for, while they are caring for our customers.”

The primary care initiative is the first part of Bupa Viva, Bupa’s global wellbeing programme, which covers all areas of health including financial, mental, physical, social and environmental. Throughout 2023, the company plans to boost medical cover and health benefits for its staff across the globe.
