CT4N has increased pay for employees during the cost-of-living crisis and is now an accredited living wage employer.

The community transport operator is offering workers a minimum of £11.13 an hour, which is 23 pence higher than the Living Wage Foundation’s recommended rate of £10.90.

Joining around 12,000 employers that have so far signed up to the living wage campaign, the not-for-profit organisation decided to implement the pay rises in recognition of the hard work and professionalism of its “most valuable asset”. The firm is also hoping the move will help it to attract more drivers.

East Midlands-based CT4N is in a region where more than 13% of people do not earn enough to live on and where 251,000-plus jobs pay rates less than real living wage.

Katherine Chapman, director, Living Wage Foundation, said: “We’re delighted that CT4N has joined the movement of over 12,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.

“They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Everton Football Club and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like CT4N, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”

As well as its higher pay rates, CT4N offers a range of employee benefits, including private healthcare, discounts on electrical appliances, and a cycle-to-work scheme.

Employees are also given generous annual leave allowances and a long-service scheme, which includes holiday entitlement.
