Pitchup has introduced an employee cycling benefit to boost the wellbeing and engagement of its UK workforce.
The London-based worldwide campsite booking marketplace, which has more than 50 members of staff globally, is now offering its workforce a discount of up to 55% on a new bike or e-bike.
Launched through a partnership with new start-up Gogeta, the tax-free bike scheme gives staff the chance to embrace the company’s environmentally friendly ethos through their travel choices.
Pitchup founder and managing director Dan Yates explained that the business wanted to focus on developing and improving its benefits offering after a period of significant growth and increasing headcount.
He commented: “With camping among the lowest-emitting types of accommodation, we’re pleased to give our team the chance to embrace this ethos on two wheels.”
The new benefit gives Pitchup employees who join their company’s bike scheme access to an employer-branded Gogeta marketplace portal, which presents real-time stock from UK bike shops and brands, with the latest availability and prices. This means that the tax-free costs and savings are displayed in one place, with a salary sacrifice application directly connected. The marketplace can also be used by any employee to make purchases directly.
Yates added that the business had liked the transparency and straightforwardness of Gogeta’s approach, and that the low fees would give its team the biggest possible choice of bikes.
The employee benefit provider’s founder Barry Scott said: “Cycling is a really powerful wellbeing benefit, and that is in terms of physical, mental and financial wellbeing. Numerous scientific studies support cycling’s positive impact on productivity and engagement, as well as its clear environmental upside.
“Plus cycling can help an organisation meet its ESG goals, which is quite unique for an employee benefit. Cycling ticks lots of boxes, which is valuable when organisations are looking to focus limited resources where they can have the most impact.”
In addition to the bike scheme, Pitchup offers employees 25 days of holiday, plus bank holidays, pension contributions matched to 4%, private healthcare, life insurance, critical illness cover and income protection. Staff have access to discounted gym memberships and sports equipment, as well as cost savings at retailers such as Caffe Nero, Odeon cinema and a range of hotels and shops.
The company also provides a work-from-home office equipment allowance, company away days, an employee assistance programme and enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
