Professor Dame Carol Black, one of the pioneers of today’s approach to workplace wellbeing, has been given a rare honour in this year’s New Year’s Honours list.
Black wrote the seminal Working For a Healthier Tomorrow report for the Department for Work and Pensions in 2008, which was pivotal in highlighting the importance of the workplace in improving societal health outcomes and improving wellbeing across the population.
She has received the honour of Dame Grand Cross for her work on tackling drug abuse. Black was already a Dame, but has been given the rare title Dame Grand Cross in this year’s list. She is one of less than 80 women to receive the order.
Aviva CEO Amanda Blanc has been named a Dame, being made a CBE for services to business, gender equality and net zero.
