Employee benefits specialist, consultant and podcast co-host Steve Herbert has taken on the role of brand ambassador for Occupational Health Assessment.

With a long career in the benefits and wellbeing strategy sector, including posts at Jelf Group, Howdens Employee Benefits & Wellbeing and Partners&, Herbert will now champion the under-used option of health assessments to employers.

He will continue with his consultancy work alongside his new role, and will deliver the free Occupational Health Assessment HR & Employment webinars, which offer insights on a range of topical employment issues.

Herbert is also a co-host on Benefit’s Expert’s podcast Benefits Unboxed, so look out for the next episode coming soon.

Herbert said: “Occupational health assessments are too often overlooked by HR professionals when it comes to proactive absence management or improvements to worker wellbeing, and are also an option not widely promoted by many in the employee benefits industry.

“We feel there is a real opportunity here to better explain the use of such a facility to reduce absence, amid presenteeism and mitigate potential litigation and negative publicity too.”

Magnus Kauders, managing director at Occupational Health Assessment, said: “Steve is well known to HR professionals through his presentation and media work, so we see his appointment as the ideal opportunity to promote our position as the UK’s only Certified B-Corp occupation health provider to a far wider audience.

“In particular we want to highlight how access to our team of experts, including Steve, can help employers achieve the best health and business outcome with the minimum of delay.”

Benefits Unboxed – Wellbeing: HR is supporting everyone, but who’s supporting HR?
byBenefits Expert from Definite Article Media

As the professionals responsible for helping their organisations navigate NI hikes, rising employee stress levels and looming redundancies, the pressure on HR, reward and benefits teams has never been greater.

HR is expected to lead with strength and compassion. But who is supporting the supporters?

In this episode of Benefits Unboxed, co-hosts Claire Churchard, Carole Goldsmith and Steve Herbert explore the emotional and ethical pressures HR face today, from managing redundancies to implementing complex legislation. They discuss why HR’s own wellbeing may not be the first topic of conversation, the risks that poses to employers, and the practical steps businesses can take to better support the wellbeing of the people who support everyone else.

This conversation shines a light on the resilience of the profession and why looking after HR is not just the right thing to do, but a business imperative.
