Reframe Cancer teams up with insurer to offer ‘groundbreaking’ benefit

AXA Commercial, which provides advice on insurance and risk management to SMEs, has appointed Paul Tombs as director of its SME intermediary business.

Tombs will take up the role this summer to focus on creating a seamless digital customer experience for AXA’s SME intermediary customers such as contractors.

He brings more than 20 years insurance industry experience to the role, with 18 spent at Zurich where he led the insurer’s SME business through a digital transformation and broker service improvements.

Tombs has a background in the technology and digital space and was a director of Polaris, a software company owned by the insurance industry that worked to improve digital trading. He also set up and ran the UK operation of Yarowa, an insurtech company that helps insurers digitise their processes.

Deepak Soni, director at AXA Commercial, said: “We look forward to welcoming Paul to our team in the summer. His expertise will be crucial in helping us to create a seamless digital customer experience for our SME intermediary customers, which is central to our commercial business strategy.”

Tombs said he was excited to join AXA Commercial and lead the SME business. “I look forward to getting to know the team and understanding from them – and AXA’s brokers – all the great things already being done and also the areas they think need to be improved.”
