Consultancy Barnett Waddingham (BW) has appointed five new partners to the business following its recent acquisition by Howden.

The consultancy said the new partners will help drive further growth across key markets. Appointees include Reena Tanna, focusing on defined contribution pensions investment, Lewys Curteis with expertise in defined benefits pensions, Harshil Shah, providing consultations for risk and resilience services, Julien Masselot on insurance and longevity consulting, and Nikhil Patel, focusing on risk transfer consulting.

The firm has also announced 40 senior promotions across its risk, pensions, investment and insurance divisions.

It said that the raft of appointments shows its ongoing commitment to investing in its people, capabilities, and technological innovation.

Andrew Vaughan, senior partner at the firm, said: “The promotions highlight the strength, expertise, and influence these people have across our teams and the wider business. Supporting career progression remains a core part of our culture, and these appointments are not only a celebration of individual achievement — they reflect the depth of talent in our teams that continue to drive our business forward.”

Jacqui Derrick, partner and head of people at BW, added: “Our commitment to celebrating excellence and enabling people to progress at every stage of their career remains at the heart of BW.  Our strong training and development programs help individuals achieve their full potential, and these appointments are testament to that.”

As new faces join the firm, seven partners retired this year. They are Julia Bassett, Sue Foley, Paul Hamilton, John Hoskin, Colin Mayger, Graeme Muir and Zoe Smith.
