Crawford & Company, a claims management firm, has launched a working abroad policy for its employees in the UK and Northern Ireland.

Employees at the firm that wish to work outside the UK and Ireland on a short-term basis can access detailed guidance from the employer. The policy provides a common structure for managing every aspect of working abroad and details the processes that will ensure employees that choose to do this can continue to maintain the highest standards of customer service when abroad.

The newly launched policy forms part of the employer’s smarter working programme which was launched in 2021 in the UK and Ireland to offer employees greater flexibility around how they manage their role.

Secure working environment

This latest initiative means employees can work for the employer in another country in a safe and secure working environment for a maximum of ten days each financial year.

Andrew Bart, president, UK & Ireland, and CEO of International Operations, said: “At Crawford, we are always thinking differently about how work gets done in an  increasingly digitised world, while still meeting the needs of our stakeholders, retaining our collaborative culture, and providing excellent service.

“Through our working abroad policy, we want  our employees to be able to take advantage of the opportunity to travel to a different country while still fulfilling their day-to-day tasks from there. This introduces yet another level of flexibility into our smarter working programme which we see as key to creating the best possible working environment  for talent.”

byBenefits Expert from Definite Article Media

As the professionals responsible for helping their organisations navigate NI hikes, rising employee stress levels and looming redundancies, the pressure on HR, reward and benefits teams has never been greater.

HR is expected to lead with strength and compassion. But who is supporting the supporters?

In this episode of Benefits Unboxed, co-hosts Claire Churchard, Carole Goldsmith and Steve Herbert explore the emotional and ethical pressures HR face today, from managing redundancies to implementing complex legislation. They discuss why HR’s own wellbeing may not be the first topic of conversation, the risks that poses to employers, and the practical steps businesses can take to better support the wellbeing of the people who support everyone else.

This conversation shines a light on the resilience of the profession and why looking after HR is not just the right thing to do, but a business imperative.
