Systemic shake-up: it takes HR to do things right

Edelman UK and Ireland has introduced Reproductively Responsible healthcare support for its workforce.

The PR and communications agency has teamed up with Hertility to offer staff end-to-end care that includes both women’s and men’s health, as well as fertility, LGBTQ+ family-forming and menopause.

Through the provision, employees can access specialist care, fertility testing and hormonal health support services that build upon the company’s existing menopause policy established in 2021.

Ruth Warder, CEO of Edelman UK and Ireland, said: “We are proud to be working in partnership with Hertility to bring life and family planning to the forefront of our employees’ experience. Offering enhanced fertility and menopause assistance will help people feel empowered in their decision-making, whatever this looks like for them and their lives.”

Other healthcare policies and benefits currently available to employees include access to a digital GP service, private medical insurance, an employee wellbeing programme, a menopause policy, a miscarriage policy and a quit smoking scheme.

The agency – which employs around 6,000 people in 60 countries globally – also has a wider range of employee perks available to staff, including free breakfasts, travel insurance, sabbaticals, a citizenship grant, a birthday day off and awards for long service. It also offers a cycle-to-work scheme, season ticket loan, mentoring programme and a learning and development programme.

Benefits Unboxed – Wellbeing: HR is supporting everyone, but who’s supporting HR?
byBenefits Expert from Definite Article Media

As the professionals responsible for helping their organisations navigate NI hikes, rising employee stress levels and looming redundancies, the pressure on HR, reward and benefits teams has never been greater.

HR is expected to lead with strength and compassion. But who is supporting the supporters?

In this episode of Benefits Unboxed, co-hosts Claire Churchard, Carole Goldsmith and Steve Herbert explore the emotional and ethical pressures HR face today, from managing redundancies to implementing complex legislation. They discuss why HR’s own wellbeing may not be the first topic of conversation, the risks that poses to employers, and the practical steps businesses can take to better support the wellbeing of the people who support everyone else.

This conversation shines a light on the resilience of the profession and why looking after HR is not just the right thing to do, but a business imperative.
