UK employees find mindfulness the best way to support positive mental health, according to user data from Canada Life’s MyStrength app.

App user data showed that in 2023, mindfulness activities accounted for 36 percent of completed tasks. The next most used tool on the app was for sleep, which accounted for 27 percent. App use to support depression accounted for 11 percent, while tools to ease anxiety and stress accounted for 10 percent of user activities each.

The most used tools on the app were the Mindful Check-in (15 percent), Anxiety and Your Emotional Landscape (13 percent) and Conscious Noting (12 percent).

Jo Turner, head of product and proposition, group protection, at Canada Life, said: “Now more than ever, employers have a role to play in proactively supporting their employees in the workplace with their mental health – not just when a medical intervention is required, but with preventative measures to support their overall wellbeing too.

“The MyStrength app is just one of the many ways in which employers can help employees take positive steps to improve their quality of life. Whether it is gaining support for a better night’s sleep or finding moments of peace and quiet within a busy day, it can really help in improving the wellbeing of employees across the country.”
