In a year marked by global volatility, impending legislative change in the UK, and evolving workforce demands, HR professionals are being pulled in more directions than ever.

Staying ahead of the curve isn’t just helpful, it’s essential. That’s why Benefits Expert is bringing together leading voices for its second must-attend Benefits Unboxed Live! Webinar titled ‘HR in an Uncertain World: What Employers Need to Know Now’.

Benefits Unboxed Live! Thursday 3 July, 2025, 10am-12pm (register here)

With one week to go, this live event aims to cut through the noise and provide HR and reward professionals with the insight, clarity and confidence they need to navigate 2025’s biggest challenges. Whether it’s managing the fallout from global political change, responding to landmark legal rulings, or rethinking how to support financial wellbeing, this webinar will offer strategic perspectives and practical takeaways you can act on.

We will open with a big picture session, titled ‘Macro Pressures, Micro Impacts’, presented by Steve Herbert, an award winning commentator on workforce trends. He will break down how global politics, from Nigel Farage’s influence on workplace rhetoric to Donald Trump’s latest controversial move, are impacting UK HR departments in real terms, including rising absence rates and growing concerns around workplace wellbeing.

David Speakman, partner at law firm DAC Beachcroft, will present the next session on one of the most talked-about rulings of the year. In the session titled ‘Redefining “Woman” in Employment Law’, Speakman will outline the key facts concerning the UK Supreme Court judgment on gender and the Equality Act. He will also share an essential update on the wider Employment Rights Bill.

Our lively panel debate, titled ‘Who Pays for Financial Wellbeing?’ will explore how employers can support staff financially without breaking the bank. With economic pressures still biting, the expert panel will discuss innovative tools, policy decisions, and debate what works and who is footing the bill. Panellists include Charles Cotton, senior policy advisor for reward and performance at the CIPD, Jane Vivier, HR thinker and reward consultant, Katherine Watkins, HR leader, and Steve Herbert, with Claire Churchard, Benefits Expert editor moderating the discussion.

In our final thought provoking session, Charlie Goodman, director at the Institute for Financial Wellbeing, will challenge convention in his session ‘Rethinking Pensions – Shifting the Focus from Product to Purpose’. He’ll outline why it’s time to shift the conversation and stop letting the pension product define the retirement savings journey. He’ll discuss why so many people are passive savers, leaving them without the funds for the future they really want, and how tools and financial education that are available right now can be used to change up the traditional script.

Throughout the webinar, the audience will be invited to vote in live polls and submit questions for a closing Q&A with all our speakers.

Benefits Unboxed – Wellbeing: HR is supporting everyone, but who’s supporting HR?
byBenefits Expert from Definite Article Media

As the professionals responsible for helping their organisations navigate NI hikes, rising employee stress levels and looming redundancies, the pressure on HR, reward and benefits teams has never been greater.

HR is expected to lead with strength and compassion. But who is supporting the supporters?

In this episode of Benefits Unboxed, co-hosts Claire Churchard, Carole Goldsmith and Steve Herbert explore the emotional and ethical pressures HR face today, from managing redundancies to implementing complex legislation. They discuss why HR’s own wellbeing may not be the first topic of conversation, the risks that poses to employers, and the practical steps businesses can take to better support the wellbeing of the people who support everyone else.

This conversation shines a light on the resilience of the profession and why looking after HR is not just the right thing to do, but a business imperative.
