Kingsley Healthcare and The Entertainer have topped this year’s list of companies for work wellbeing in the UK, taking first and second place respectively.
Indeed’s Better Work Awards 2023 also recognised The Body Shop in third place, followed by Kelly Group and Clarks.
Kingsley CEO’s and co-founder Daya Thayan, said: “This is fantastic news as we look forward to celebrating our company’s 25th anniversary next year. This is all the more important as the group embarks on rapid expansion while retaining the family values that make us different to others.
“We have built our company on family values, placing a huge emphasis on nurturing talent and treating our colleagues well. We are proud to be a real living wage employer and have our own charity, the Kingsley Foundation, which was set up to support staff during difficult times in their lives.”
Chief people officer Lisa Lock said: “This award is a tribute to all our leaders who have taken care of their teams. Work wellbeing is hugely important to us at Kingsley. During the pandemic we began hosting Kingsley Hero Days to treat our care home staff and we have continued to do that. In addition to this, we have invested heavily in our Kingsley Training Academy to enable our colleagues to benefit from industry-leading training programmes.”
The winners were judged in four main areas, including happiness, purpose, satisfaction and stress. The decision also explored main workplace wellbeing drivers, such as appreciation, fair pay, inclusion and respect, accomplishment, belonging, learning, being well managed, trust, support and encouragement and energy.
Based on feedback shared by employees over the course a year from July 2022 to July 2023, eligible UK employers included those with a minimum of 1,000 staff members and at least 100 unique work wellbeing ratings.
Priscilla Koranteng, Indeed’s chief people officer, said: “Finding the right job today remains challenging. But what we know is that people want to work for an employer that puts them first. Indeed’s Better Work Awards winners stand out from the rest for truly prioritising work wellbeing.”
“When employers create better work, it leads to better lives for their employees. Indeed’s Better Work Awards recognise the companies that are doing this best by providing an outstanding employee experience. Congratulations to all of this year’s winning employers.”
