Pensions firm Phoenix Group to rebrand as Standard Life

The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) has launched ‘Pension Wise Digital,’ expanding the government’s Pension Wise service to reach more people.

This new option provides the same guidance as phone and in-person appointments but through an online platform.

Pension Wise Digital is offered for those who want to get pension support online, while MaPS continues to provide phone and in-person appointments. The digital service enables customers to plan appointments at any time, save progress, and return when convenient.

Similar to all other Pension Wise services, is available to anyone over the age of 50 who has a defined contribution pension. Users can still get expert advice via webchat from MoneyHelper’s pension consultants.

Pension Wise Digital was created using user feedback from throughout the UK to provide accessibility for everyone, including individuals with diverse degrees of digital and financial literacy. Since its testing period in April 2024, the service has maintained a 94% customer satisfaction score while assisting over 5,000 customers with their pension alternatives.

Money and Pensions Service head of money and pensions policy Jackie Spencer says: “I am so pleased that we have launched Pension Wise Digital as a new digital appointment to Pension Wise.

“Pension Wise Digital will help to engage more people in their pensions and reach those who may have struggled to access the service before, so we’re looking forward to seeing how people make the most of this new service.

“MaPS will continue to offer its face-to-face and telephone appointments for those who would still prefer to use these channels, so no matter how you’d like to communicate with an expert, there is a Pension Wise option for you.”
