Systemic shake-up: it takes HR to do things right

HelloSelf, a virtual provider of psychological therapy services, has joined Grid the industry body for group risk.

The provider offers individuals and partner organisations, such as the NHS, insurance companies, and medical professionals, personalised digital therapy via an expert clinical network and its own therapy platform. It said that this approach enables it to deliver long-lasting outcomes for individuals and the employer in an efficient and sustainable way.

Tim Fuller, private partnerships lead at HelloSelf, said: “As one of the UK’s largest networks of clinical and counselling psychologists, we are strongly positioned to work with Grid to help shape policy, and advocate for the importance of the right type of mental health support, at the right time, for the growing number of people struggling with their mental health.”

Fuller added that well-timed and personalised psychological therapy can help support people back into work if they are absent due to mental health needs or challenging physical health conditions. He said that the provider is keen to work with Grid and its members to explore how the protection industry can support proactive prevention to reduce the likelihood of mental ill health being a cause of absenteeism and reduce the risk of relapse post-support.

Colin Fitzgerald, chair of Grid, said: “As an industry, the closer we work with diverse specialists in field, the better. The fuller our proposition, the better support we’re able to provide within group risk. We offer a warm welcome to HelloSelf and look forward to working together.”

Changing health needs

In April, nurse-led health and wellbeing specialist RedArc joined Grid. It supports a wide range of health conditions including mental health, cancer and bereavement, as well as chronic conditions such as parkinsons and diabetes. By joining Grid, the company plans to work even more closely with the group protection industry to meet changing needs.

Christine Husbands, commercial director for RedArc, said: “Needs change all the time, and we develop our proposition to meet those needs. Being part of Grid enables us to share our experience, not only gained over many years, but current insight too, so we’re at the forefront of industry development, and I’m looking forward to getting involved.”

Benefits Unboxed – Wellbeing: HR is supporting everyone, but who’s supporting HR?
byBenefits Expert from Definite Article Media

As the professionals responsible for helping their organisations navigate NI hikes, rising employee stress levels and looming redundancies, the pressure on HR, reward and benefits teams has never been greater.

HR is expected to lead with strength and compassion. But who is supporting the supporters?

In this episode of Benefits Unboxed, co-hosts Claire Churchard, Carole Goldsmith and Steve Herbert explore the emotional and ethical pressures HR face today, from managing redundancies to implementing complex legislation. They discuss why HR’s own wellbeing may not be the first topic of conversation, the risks that poses to employers, and the practical steps businesses can take to better support the wellbeing of the people who support everyone else.

This conversation shines a light on the resilience of the profession and why looking after HR is not just the right thing to do, but a business imperative.
