Superdrug and Savers are rolling out a host of wellbeing benefits throughout the year to support employees financially through the cost-of-living crisis.

The brands, which are part of the A.S.Watson group, will also be offering the new initiatives to boost the mental and physical wellbeing of their workforces. These will include a range of apps and healthcare discounts.

Through a partnership with financial wellbeing app Wagesteam, staff will have real-time visibility of their shifts and earnings, as well as help with budgeting, flexible pay options so they can decide when they are paid, and encouragement to save for the future.

By the summer, the retailers plan to introduce a Digicare app from Aviva, which provides free access to a digital GP service, nutritional and mental health consultations, annual health checks and second medical opinion options. It will also offer support and guidance to help employees identify, manage and prevent both mental and physical health problems.

Amy Davies, people director at A.S.Watson Health and Beauty UK, said: “The health and happiness of our team members is so important to us, and we want to do all that we can to support and encourage a happy and healthy life for everyone at Superdrug and Savers.

“We appreciate our team members are individuals with differing needs and so we try to offer a wide range of benefits, to help everyone be the best versions of themselves. These progressive benefits are so important in rewarding the amazing contributions our colleagues make every day.

“We have one of the most thriving apprenticeship schemes and know our colleagues to be the best and so our aim is to attract talent early and nurture career progression within our businesses, through competitive salaries, training and development opportunities and best in industry benefits.”

Both Superdrug and Savers will be enhancing their existing employee discounts by giving staff extra money off certain items in store and at Superdrug’s health clinics, as well as offering further cost savings through a Superdrug Benefit Hub discount portal to help with grocery shopping, family days out, and much more.

Holly Reilly, head of client success at Wagestream, added: “Financial wellbeing is now at the top of the boardroom agenda. It’s fantastic to see an employer like Superdrug leading the way, by giving its people benefits like a flexible pay cycle, money coaching, budgeting and savings tools, and a payslip that updates every day. By providing such a broad range of financial wellbeing support, Superdrug will make work more rewarding for its team and really stand out as an employer of choice.”

The US DEI Rollback: What It Means for UK Employers
byBenefits Expert from Definite Article Media

The US retreat from diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) is making waves far beyond the country's borders. In the wake of President Trump’s executive order abolishing DEI across federal government departments, global firms like Goldman Sachs and Accenture have rapidly dialled down their own efforts.

The influence is being felt in the UK too. However, the UK operates under a different legal framework. It has stronger workplace protections and a government actively looking to enhance employee rights through its Make Work Pay agenda. But as US firms reposition their approach to DEI, UK subsidiaries could find themselves caught between conflicting priorities.

In the latest Benefits Unboxed podcast, co-hosts Claire Churchard, editor of Benefits Expert, Carole Goldsmith, HR director at the Royal Horticultural Society, and Steve Herbert, industry veteran and reward and benefits consultant, discuss how the US DEI rollback might impact UK businesses.
