The Belfry Hotel & Resort has introduced support tools for its employees to highlight the effects of the menopause and help those experiencing symptoms.

All staff and managers at the Warwickshire, UK based resort now have access to a range of awareness sessions, which cover issues including the stages of the menopause, how it can impact people and the support available.

Individuals can have regular check-ins with their managers, while private access to learning resources and training are available via The Belfry’s online platform, Belfry Campus.

A specialised GP service is also on offer to staff, enabling them to discuss any problems and symptoms, as well as develop a treatment plan. The resort will cover 50% of related costs for contracted individuals with more than a year of service.

In addition to menopause-specific support, staff also have access to free group golf lessons since regular exercise can help reduce common symptoms. They can also benefit from the existing discounted gym membership on offer through their benefits package.

Kirsten Price, head of people and culture at The Belfry, said: “At the heart of our approach is a commitment to people, driving us to revolutionise workplace culture using innovative tools, and providing vital education for our valued team. Recognising that menopause remains a stigmatised topic in the workplace, we are determined to break these barriers. The need for change is clear, and we are proud of the transformative support we’ve implemented. Together, we break the silence, challenge norms, and pioneer a workplace where everyone thrives.”

According to The Belfry, it adopts a holistic people-focussed approach which prioritises upskilling employees and rewarding their hard work alongside supporting their mental health. This includes the introduction of numerous career development schemes such as  an internal education programme teaching employees how to deliver exceptional guest experiences; a training scheme designed to inspire and create future leaders; and an online platform to further enhance learning opportunities.

Employees at the resort also have access to a benefits scheme, which includes resort discounts, 24/7 private GP access and subsidised travel, as well as the opportunity to be rewarded for their hard work at The Belfry’s internal awards ceremony.

A robust wellness programme has also been implemented, offering all employees uncapped mental health counselling, which involved training dozens of team members to equip them with the knowledge necessary to effectively support their colleagues.
