Vitality has appointed Sarah Kirby as chief people officer, taking over from Judy Parfitt, who will retire at the end of June.

Kirby will oversee the People and Property function of the business, including human resources, talent management, employee communication and engagement, and management of property and facilities.

Her wealth of experience includes past roles as group HR chief operations officer at Zurich, as well as global head of group HR strategy, organisation development, and transformation at the insurer. She was also HR director at HSBC and has held senior roles at various financial firms.

Neville Koopowitz, CEO at Vitality, said: We are excited to welcome Sarah to our team. Our people are the heart of Vitality, a company committed to enhancing the health and wellbeing of our members every day. Sarah brings extensive experience and a strategic vision that will support our business and teams, further strengthening our unique culture of innovation, inclusivity, and collaboration.

“Our current chief people officer, Judy Parfitt, will be retiring later this year. Judy’s dedication to Vitality and her impact on our people and culture are evident throughout the business. I would like to express my gratitude for her commitment and the significant contributions she has made to Vitality.”

Kirby said: “I am thrilled to be joining Vitality, a brand I admire, with a powerful purpose, a commitment to sustainability and a strong reputation for innovation in health and wellbeing.

“I look forward to joining such a talented team and driving a people strategy that supports growth and performance, alongside a thriving culture.”

Parfitt has been at Vitality for eight years and played an instrumental part in transforming and leading the people team.

Benefits Unboxed – Wellbeing: HR is supporting everyone, but who’s supporting HR?
byBenefits Expert from Definite Article Media

As the professionals responsible for helping their organisations navigate NI hikes, rising employee stress levels and looming redundancies, the pressure on HR, reward and benefits teams has never been greater.

HR is expected to lead with strength and compassion. But who is supporting the supporters?

In this episode of Benefits Unboxed, co-hosts Claire Churchard, Carole Goldsmith and Steve Herbert explore the emotional and ethical pressures HR face today, from managing redundancies to implementing complex legislation. They discuss why HR’s own wellbeing may not be the first topic of conversation, the risks that poses to employers, and the practical steps businesses can take to better support the wellbeing of the people who support everyone else.

This conversation shines a light on the resilience of the profession and why looking after HR is not just the right thing to do, but a business imperative.
