Employer XPO Logistics has held its annual UK Female Driver Forum as part of a commitment to encourage more women to consider careers as transport drivers.
The networking event, at the company’s national distribution centre in Crick, Northamptonshire, offers a safe space for women drivers to speak to XPO´s senior management and air any concerns.
Numbers of women drivers at the firm have increased by 20 in the UK and Ireland in the past year, supported by the company’s women focused events. The firm hopes to boost this number even further this year.
Employees at the event discussed neurodiversity in the workplace and took part in an interactive session for female drivers to provide operational feedback so the company can provide better support.
Lynn Brown, vice president – human resources – UK and Ireland at XPO Logistics, said: “We are excited to have been able to run our second Female Driver Forum this year, not only to celebrate the successes of our female drivers but to allow them to spend time discussing the topics that matter to them.
“Our Female Driver Academy has been instrumental in helping us move towards our goal of increasing the number of female drivers in our business and ensuring that we understand and remove any impediments to our progress. We want to continue encouraging more women to pursue this rewarding career.”
