XPO Logistics has enhanced paternity pay for staff in the UK and Ireland as part of a suite of family-friendly policies.
The transport and logistics business, which employs around 5,000 people in the region, is now providing two weeks of fully paid leave for new parents.
The policy applies to mothers and fathers in any relationship, who are taking paternity leave following the birth or adoption of a child.
According to XPO, enhancing this paid leave to include the full basic pay “ensures the family can enjoy more quality time with a new child without the worry that taking unpaid leave could create on personal finances”.
The measure is one of several being introduced as part of the company’s commitment to supporting staff across the business in the UK and Ireland during stressful periods.
Lynn Brown, vice president of human resources for UK and Ireland at XPO Logistics, said: “Enhancing the amount of paid paternity leave is something we want to do at XPO to support our colleagues without them having to worry about work or the financial impact. This is the latest in a range of family-friendly policies we have implemented, and we are just at the beginning of our plans to support our colleagues in all areas of their lives. Each of these measures is an investment in the most vital part of our business – the people who work here.”
Last month, XPO announced it would be offering extra support for staff suffering a miscarriage or still birth in the UK and Ireland (UK&I). It now provides 10 additional days of paid leave for individuals, in any relationship, who experience this type of pregnancy loss.
Other policies the business offers to staff in the region include paid leave for fertility treatments and access to free sanitary products.
